Mr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Latiff first set foot on Pulau Pemanggil in the early 1990s and immediately recognized the tourism potential of the island. With over 21 years of experience in the hotel industry, Mr. Abdullah proceeded to explore ways to establish a resort on the island. On June 24, 1990, he acquired the following:

• Land measuring 2.75 acres.
• Registered under the ownership of Mr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Latiff @ Sallehudean Latiff.

Lanting Beach Resort is located approximately 64 miles offshore from Mersing, Johor, Malaysia. It requires a 1 1/2-hour ride by catamaran boat from Mersing,Johor,Malaysia. (mainland).

The resort offers 35 accommodations, ranging from standard and deluxe rooms to longhouses and elegant family rooms, all in typical Malay architectural style, accommodating up to 130 guests at any one time.
