Mr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Latiff first set foot on Pulau Pemanggil in the early 1990s and immediately recognized the tourism potential of the island. With over 21 years of experience in the hotel industry, Mr. Abdullah proceeded to explore ways to establish a resort on the island. On June 24, 1990, he acquired the following:

  • Freehold Malay Reserved land
  • Lot No L.O. 66 HS (M), Mukim of Pulau-Pulau, District of Mersing, State of Johor, Malaysia.
  • Land measuring 2.75 acres.
  • Registered under the ownership of Mr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Latiff @ Sallehudean Latiff.

The resort offers 35 accommodations, ranging from standard and deluxe rooms to longhouses and elegant family rooms, all in a typical Malay architectural style, accommodating up to 130 guests at any one time.

Lanting Beach Resort (LBR) offer you a great destination for saltwater fishing enthusiasts. Pemanggil Island is well known for its fishing haven.

The view at this rocky and hilly resort is breath taking, almost like a bird’s eye view. On your way to the dining and leisure you have to climb a very steep staircase, so steep that you can touch the stairs while climbing it. When reaching there, you can see a collection of antiques, ie. watches, cameras, gramophone, antique radio set, etc.

Location

Located about 64 miles offshore from Mersing, Johor, Malaysia. Requires a 1 1/2 hours ride by Catamaran boat from Mersing (mainland).

Lanting resort is situated at the far end of the resort. It takes another 15 minutes boat ride to the resort jetty from the main jetty. This resort is quite secluded from other resorts. One thing unique about this resort is that the whole structure is actually built on big rocky hills.

Pulau Pemanggil experiences the influence of the monsoon season from January, February & December during which many resorts close their doors, potentially leading to disappointment for travellers. Therefore, the period from April to September is recommended as the best time to visit Pulau Pemanggil.

During these months, rainfall is minimal, and the coast is typically clear, with fewer occurrences of strong winds and rough sea waves. Visitors can expect sunny days, ideal for enjoying water sports and other beach activities throughout the day.
